Two-phase orthodontic treatment – Phase 1 at TGO Orthodontics

At TGO Orthodontics, orthodontic treatment is divided into two phases to meet the specific needs of young patients. The first usually begins between the ages of 7 and 9, while the second takes place when the permanent teeth are in place.

Phase 1: Goals and duration

Phase 1 aims to correct jaw growth imbalances and major functional problems. Under the direction of Dr. Claudia Giambattistini and Dr. Jonathan Werbitt, appliances such as partial braces and palatal expansion devices are used to create space for permanent teeth and improve dental occlusion. This phase lasts between 12 and 18 months.

Phase 2: Refining and finalizing

Phase 2 begins when all the permanent teeth have erupted, generally between the ages of 11 and 14. Its aim is to refine tooth alignment and optimize masticatory function. At this stage, orthodontists often use full braces or transparent aligners to achieve a balanced, harmonious smile.

Two-phase orthodontic treatment is crucial to preventing future dental problems and ensuring optimal oral health. At TGO Orthodontics, we’re here to support you every step of the way, ensuring the best possible care for your child.
